Job Description
How You Will Make an Impact
We are seeking a detail oriented Electrical Engineer to oversee Electrical Design engineering for multiple Power Distribution projects. This candidate will have a successful track record of assessing the feasibility of electrical designs for microgrid systems utilizing generator assets (Portable & Fixed) and BESS systems for multiple applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning and development of power distribution and switchgear designs to support generator operations.
- Coordinate with vendors, EPCs, and contractors for the execution, testing, and construction of electrical systems.
- Develop and qualify subcontractors for the design and construction of equipment supporting power distribution interconnections.
- Conduct internal design and feasibility reviews for power distribution systems.
- Supervise and approve the work of third-party engineers as required.
- Create and review technical specifications for equipment procurement, ensuring compliance with all codes and project requirements.
- Oversee the creation of initial and as-built drawings.
- Collaborate with customers, vendors, and cross-functional teams including design engineering, purchasing, production, manufacturing engineering, and inspection staff.
- Serve as the key interface between the company and project execution teams, including on-site supervision of generator field testing.
- Coordinate interactions with electrical and gas utilities to facilitate distributed generation service requests.
- Support the submission and development of interconnect applications.
- Work with engineering teams and product specialists to ensure design and performance specifications are met.
- Provide guidance and leadership to junior engineers.
- Develop standards for design, manufacturing, and testing documentation.
- Assist field sales with client-specific load analysis to optimize design solutions.
- Lead investigations to identify root causes of quality issues and coordinate corrective actions.
- Offer technical guidance and support in response to testing and analysis.
- Ensure compliance with design and performance specifications through thorough review and testing.
- Adhere to all safety policies, standards, and procedures applicable to the role.
- Actively participate in required training and safety meetings.
- Utilize appropriate tools and equipment safely and effectively.
- Immediately report all incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the direct supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
- Strong background in three-phase AC electrical power and associated design calculations.
- Thorough understanding of switch-mode power converters, including hardware design, heat management, and feedback control.
- Experience in designing electrical enclosures and control cabinets, with organized wiring arrangements, labeling, and compliance with NFPA 70 (National Electric Code).
- Proficiency in interpreting and creating professional-grade drawings using AutoCAD Electrical.
- Experience with soldering and the use of electrical measurement and test equipment.
- Ability to quickly learn and understand the company’s power systems control systems.
