Alumni and Friends Endowed Chair

DEPARTMENT: Management & Marketing

POSITION TITLE: Alumni and Friends Endowed Chair

SUPERVISOR: Dean of the College of Business

PURPOSE: The person who holds the Alumni and Friends Endowed Chair in Business will have expertise in the field of management or marketing. The Chair will engage meaningfully and effectively with the business community; develop and supervise student internships; develop and implement appropriate research and publication initiatives; contribute meaningfully to the review, improvement, and development of academic courses and programs, and assist the College in maintaining ACBSP accreditation.

The Alumni and Friends Endowed Chair in Business will play a central role in strengthening the connection between the College of Business, its alumni, and the regional business community. The Chair will advance the College's mission through teaching excellence, community engagement, and continuous improvement of programs and partnerships.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support ACBSP accreditation by contributing to assessment, documentation, and continuous improvement of academic programs.
  • Support student recruitment, retention, and outreach initiatives.
  • Lead the College of Business Internship Program, including outreach to business partners, student advising, communication of opportunities, and matching students with placements.
  • Lead alumni engagement efforts by developing and maintaining a database and follow-up process to foster relationships with recent graduates and business partners.
  • Serve as faculty lead for Command Your Career and other career development programs designed to prepare students for success in the workforce.
  • Facilitate workshops in collaboration with Continuing Education, the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and other key stakeholders to support regional business growth and student learning.
  • Teach 9 credit hours per semester (fall and spring) in management, marketing, or related disciplines; summer teaching is strongly encouraged, particularly in courses such as Strategic Management MGMT 4830 (Capstone).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

The Alumni and Friends Endowed Chair in Business will be selected through a national search. The successful candidate will demonstrate academic excellence, a commitment to student success, and strong engagement with the business and alumni community of Central Louisiana.

  • A doctoral or terminal degree in a discipline represented within the College or a closely related field is preferred; however, candidates with a master's degree in a related field and extensive career and leadership experience in business will be considered.
  • Proven teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community partners.
  • Documented record of excellence in teaching, as demonstrated through student evaluations, teaching awards, or peer reviews.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with the business community, including experience in facilitating partnerships.
  • Experience developing and implementing career development programs such as Command Your Career or similar experiential learning and professional readiness initiatives.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with alumni and external stakeholders, including developing alumni engagement initiatives, tracking systems, or outreach programs.
  • Experience in course and curriculum design, particularly in support of accreditation or continuous improvement processes (preferably ACBSP).
  • Record of scholarly activity or professional publication in management, marketing, or related fields.
