Job Description
Job Title: Amateur Scouting Fellow – Domestic Scouting
Reports to: Assistant Director, Draft Operations
Location: Baltimore, MD
Compensation: Part-Time, Hourly
Role Overview:This position will assist in all administrative functions pertaining to the First Year Player Draft including day-to-day front office operations, medical collection/review, draft research, and player evaluation. This is a part-time, seasonal position that is based out of Baltimore, MD.
Key Responsibilities:
- General administrative and logistical support for Domestic Scouting Department
- Collaborate with front office, scouts, and other departments during pre-draft process
- Troubleshoot technical and equipment issues and provide assistance to scouts
- Operate various technologies to collect performance data on players at club workouts
- Edit and upload video to share as deemed necessary
- Hone player evaluation skills through in-person looks, video, statistics, and other relevant sources of information
- Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications:
- General knowledge of baseball and amateur scouting landscape
- High level of attention to detail
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with staff members of diverse backgrounds
- Must possess intellectual curiosity, an open mind, and desire to learn
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, SQL preferred
- Ability to work long hours; evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel as needed
