Job Description

CATHOLIC CHARITIES OF BROOME COUNTY

AmeriCorps Program Manager
 

$22.05-$24.82/hr. (FLSA Non-Exempt)


Qualifications

A.        Education:

 
  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services related field.
 
  1. Experience:
 
  1. Three years of supervisor experience with the senior population in a social service delivery program.
  2. Knowledge of community resources available for and challenges faced by the elderly population.
  3. Knowledge of challenges faced by youth up to age 21 who are experiencing social, emotional, developmental, behavioral, substance use, and/or medical challenges in school, community, and placement-based settings.
  4. Budget development and administration.
  5. Experience in grant writing, implementation, and reporting.

  1. Skills:
 
  1. Effective organization and time management.
  2. Excellent oral and written communication.
  3. Leadership and training abilities.
  4. Database management.
  5. Ability to stoop, stand, bend and lift up to 25 pounds.
  6. Valid NYS or PA driver’s license and meets requirement to use personal vehicle for work.
  7. Meets the National Service Criminal History Check Component Assessment to be eligible for employment.

 II.       Responsible To:         Division Director

 
  1. Major Functions
The Program Manager has full-time responsibility for the development and operation of AmeriCorps RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) in cooperation with the agency and the RSVP Advisory Council. Program Manager is also responsible for implementing the NY Youth Mental HealthCorps (NY YMHC) model within the AmeriCorps framework.

A.        Administrative:

 
  1. Develop long-range strategic plan for effective program direction.
  2. Develop and maintain cooperative working relations with community service agencies, implementing outcome-based programming and reporting.
  3. Develop volunteer recruitment, referral and station placement program to meet critical community needs.
  4. Prepare program budgets, applying sound fiscal management; prepare and submit fiscal and program reports as specified by the Sponsor, federal and state funders, and the United Way.
  5. Secure and maintain Advisory Council.
  6. Raise program support funds through grant proposals, contract development, and fundraisers.
  7. Support public policy and private sector initiatives addressing the needs of older persons at local, state and national levels.
  8. Support health and wellness initiatives for retired seniors and youth up to age 21.
  9. Promote, create and develop additional elderly and youth programs as needs arise.
  10. Promote AmeriCorps programs as well as other programs offered by Catholic Charities.
 
  1. Supervisory:
 
  1. Recruit, train, and supervise program staff and volunteers.
  2. Supervise retired senior AmeriCorps members involved in various programs.
  3. Supervise young adult, age 18-29, AmeriCorps members living in Broome County.
  4. Ensure that program activities meet stated objectives.
  5. Provide staff assistance to the Advisory Council to execute program planning, evaluations, fund raising and a continuous public relations program.
  6. Attend NSSC training programs and other appropriate meetings.
  7. Attend to any other program responsibilities not otherwise specified.
 
  1. Client/Program Relations:
 
  1. Be available for speaking engagements to community and senior groups.
  2. Serve or participate with community-based agencies and organizations in the field of aging and youth mental health.
  3. Assist Advisory Council with annual recognition event.
