If so, you should consider joining the Underwriting Analytics team at BA Industrial.

For Business Area (BA) Industrial and our Underwriting Analytics team, we are looking for a new analyst that can help us to support our aim to improve an empirically sound and data reinforced underwriting. In our area we work with the largest and most complex global clients - in an everchanging landscape - where emerging risks and complex risk profiles have a profound impact on how we underwrite and assess profitability. Our analytical support is an essential component in that work.

About the role

This role will give you a unique possibility to work with a wide selection of insurance solutions within BA Industrial. You will work closely with the Heads of each line of business, supporting them with relevant analysis and deeper insight on a portfolio level, and contributing to the understanding of emerging risks and underlying profitability. You will also support the Underwriting teams with insightful analysis on portfolio performance, trends, emerging risks and will take part in larger client cases.

Tasks and responsibilities would include some of the following:

  • Taking responsibility for building bridges between business units and supporting them with relevant analysis and deeper insight on a portfolio level
  • Development and communication of holistic view on clients risks and profitability
  • Developing underwriting / profitability tools both for existing and emerging risks
  • Being the in-depth quantitative sparring partner for the underwriting teams
  • Focus on the line of business Employee Benefits and support for all other lines at Industrial.

About the team

You will be part of an experienced and highly motivated team who supports all Line of Business, i.e. Property, Casualty, Cargo, Employee Benefits and Cyber. You will be given a great opportunity to be involved in multiple client cases and insurance solutions. From the very start, you will get the possibility to take ownership for your own deliveries and you will be the main responsible person for the Employee Benefits line of business. Who are you?

You have a strong inner drive and a genuine interest in data, analysis and communicating your findings. A high sense of responsibility defines you and you can be trusted to deliver. You are a self-motivated person with a proactive attitude and enjoy working both independently and together in teams.

You also have

  • Interest in analysing and structuring large datasets (preferably within insurance or finance). Some experience is an advantage.
  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Insurance, Actuarial Science, Statistics, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience in insurance analytics
  • Understanding of insurance financials and pricing principles
  • Ability to clearly communicate and present your findings and ideas in a pedagogical manner
  • Good command of SQL, Excel, Python and/or R
  • An innovative and driving mindset and have interest for new technology

Working language is mainly English. Knowledge of any Nordic language is a strong merit.
