Job Description:

The Teaching Assistants (TA) for the Department are responsible for facilitating laboratory sessions with first-year Osteopathic students with faculty and answering questions with assistance from faculty.

RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:              

  • Review the lecture material for the first- and second-year students and be able to assist the students with new techniques based on the lecture and laboratory materials.
  • Manage and do preparation for individual and/or group sessions.
  • Recognize and utilize study techniques within the different learning styles and student preferences
  • Create a professional and welcoming environment by modeling respect for students’ diverse cultures, language skills, and experiences
  • Utilize feedback and reflection to improve practice
  • Provide direct assistance in the use of equipment, learning objects, and materials needed for student success

QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Must be an OMSII student
  • Student must be in good standing and passing all classes

KEY COMPETENCIES:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and comprehension skills.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality of privileged information
  • Good organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage professional and interpersonal relationships and interact effectively with diverse members of the institutional community and outside constituencies.
  • Commitment to diversity in the workplace
