Job Description
CopperPoint has an exciting opportunity for an Application Development Engineer II in Phoenix, AZ. In this intermediate-level role, you will design, develop, test, document, and maintain software applications that support key business objectives. The position involves system analysis, application programming, and may include database development. You'll take ownership of troubleshooting and development tasks independently, while also collaborating with senior developers or managers on more complex projects. Depending on experience, this role may also lead small to large-scale work efforts, contributing to innovative solutions that drive organizational success.
Job responsibilities:
Application Programming and Software Development
Develop programming code or software modifications using appropriate languages and tools to optimize resources and meet functional user requirements.
Develop program code, assemble/compile code, and debug code to meet user specifications.
Unit test code and work with QA as needed with test case development or to fix and return defects.
Present or participate in peer-to-peer programming or in code reviews.
Create or update technical documentation.
System Analysis and Development
Analyze user systems and application needs, identify, and evaluate potential solutions, develop system specifications, and design application programs to meet requirements.
Consult with users to identify and document requirements
Evaluate specifications and requirements against available systems and functionality.
Design integrated solutions which may include applications, databases, web services, networks, and related systems.
Develop program specifications and review with users to ensure requirements are met.
Other
Assist in defining software development plans, including scoping, estimating, tasks, scheduling, and implementation.
Provide status updates, identify risks and issues, raise up blockers, and partner with Project Manager and others to drive projects forward and communicate progress.
Develop and maintain user manuals and guidelines.
Mentor others.
Conduct research on emerging application development software products, languages, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.
Qualifications/Competencies:
- Minimum of 4 or more years of experience with application development in current technologies.
- Guidewire Insurance Suite - Cloud Certification (PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, Digital, or Claims - depending on the hiring team)
- Bachelor's degree preferred in one of the following degree fields: Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related degree field.
- 2 or more years working on medium to large projects with experience in estimating, planning executing, and tracking development tasks.
- 2 or more years of experience working in an agile environment and a solid understanding of Agile Development Methodologies.
- Proven skills in researching, analyzing, and resolving software-related issues.
- Familiarity with data security, encryption, and privacy best practices.
- For some positions, experience with the Guidewire suite of applications is preferred.
- Development Languages required may include 1 or more of the following: Java/J2EE, Gosu, Angular, HTML, JavaScript, React, Node.js, Python, CSS, SSAS, etc.
- Experience in 1 or integration languages and tools: extensible Markup Language (XML), REST, SOAP, Json
- Experience in database management tools such as SQL Server or Oracle
- Experience in integrated development environments such as Eclipse, Visual Studio, Toad, and Data Manager
- Experience in one or more code management tools such as Bitbucket, Git
- Knowledge of log aggregator tools such as Splunk, LogRhythm
