Service Technician- Oil & Propane:
Location: Woodstock, VermontCompany: Dead River CompanyJob Type: Full-Time/onsite
Dead River Company is looking for customer-focused Service Technicians to install, maintain, and repair residential and commercial propane and/or oil burner systems. In this role, you’re not just fixing equipment—you’re delivering safety, comfort, and peace of mind. What You'll Do
install, troubleshoot, and repair propane and/or oil heating systems in accordance with applicable codes and safety regulations.
Perform system tune-ups, efficiency tests, and preventive maintenance.
Reduce call-backs by delivering accurate, high-quality work.
Provide courteous, timely service while maintaining a clean uniform, organized work habits, and a professional appearance.
Advise customers on products, services, and options that best meet their needs.
Keep your service vehicle neat, safe, and fully stocked; track parts inventories and record labor and materials promptly.
Participate in night and weekend on-call rotations.
Perform propane Gas-Check inspections (Propane Technicians).
Report any accidents, spills, or liability issues immediately.
Support teammates and complete other assigned duties as needed.
What You Bring
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical school training is preferred.
Experience:
We hire at multiple technician levels:
Apprentice: Completed oil burner training or CETP program
Journeyman: At least one year of relevant oil and/or propane service experience
Master: Two+ years of relevant oil and/or propane service experience
Skills & Attributes:

Effective communication skills with customers, co-workers, and suppliers
Licensing & Certifications:
Apprentice, Journeyman, or Master designation (where state-required)
CETP certification for propane technicians
Valid driver’s license that meets company standards
Ability to pass a pre-employment physical
Tools & Technology:
You’ll use a wide range of industry-related tools and equipment, such as:Hand tools, power tools, soldering torch, threading equipment, and diagnostic/testing instruments.
Work Environment:
Work settings vary: homes, commercial spaces, basements, crawlspaces, and outdoors
Occasional cramped or low-clearance environments
Exposure to petroleum products and fumes
Temperatures range from below zero to over 90°F depending on season
