Job Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

The AR Insurance Account Manager I sells and services new and existing accounts. This position performs sales and service functions for targeted market programs and the sale of additional coverages as assigned by performing the duties listed below.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Performs the functions of a CSR to include initiating and follow-up with customers and carriers to sell or resolve problems, answer questions, correspondence and reports. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.

  2. Prepares, processes, reviews and monitors various documents such as premiums, coverage of risk, policies, renewals, claims, applications, changes, endorsements, binders, contracts, etc. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.

  3. Contacts current and prospective customers to sell and explain coverage gaps, and solicitation of new business within market area. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.

  4. Prepares and presents proposals, quotes and recommends coverages based on customer needs and sales of appropriate coverages. This duty is performed daily, about 20% of the time.

  5. Assists customer and arranges payment terms in accordance with established guidelines. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.

  6. Prepares and calculates premiums, invoicing, commissions and other accounting related functions. This duty is performed daily, about 28% of the time.

  7. Creates and maintains computer files and suspense for follow-up action. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.

  8. Attends sales seminars, sales meetings. This duty is performed as needed, about 1% of the time.

  9. Participates in company community events and civic meetings. This duty is performed as needed, about 1% of the time.

  10. Completes required BSA/AML training and other compliance training as assigned. This duty is performed annually.

  11. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

  12. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Knowledge of a specialized field (however acquired), such as basic accounting, computer, etc. Equivalent of four years in high school, plus night, trade extension, or correspondence school specialized training, equal to two years of college, plus 12 to 18 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS

Ability to utilize common sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral or diagrammed instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several known variables in situations of a routine nature.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Ability to obtain an Arkansas Insurance License.

PREFERRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Preferably already has an Arkansas Insurance License.

SOFTWARE SKILLS REQUIRED

Advanced: Word Processing/Typing

Intermediate: Contact Management, Database

Basic: Accounting

WORKING CONDITIONS

Somewhat disagreeable working conditions. Continuously exposed to one or two elements such as noise, intermittent standing, walking; and occasional pushing, carrying, or lifting.

While performing the functions of this job, the employee is continuously required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear; regularly required to stand, walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
