We have an immediate opening for a full-time OR/PACU Medical Assistant to join our SGF San Diego, CA Ambulatory Surgery Center. The schedule will be 6:30am-3:30pm with rotating weekends and holidays The pay range for this position is between $25-$29/hr.

How You’ll Contribute:

We always do whatever it takes, even if it isn’t specifically our “job.” In general, the OR/PACU Medical Assistant is responsible for:

Responsibilities include:

• Assisting as scrub tech in the operating room using proper sterile technique

• Preparing OR and procedure rooms with necessary instruments, equipment, and supplies

• Assisting with patient positioning and draping for surgical procedures

• Providing support to physicians during procedures including egg retrievals, HSGs, and embryo transfers

• Ensuring accurate instrument and sharps counts with the circulating RN

• Cleaning and turning over OR rooms between procedures; performing terminal cleaning at day’s end

• Washing, packaging, and sterilizing instruments per OSHA guidelines

• Providing ultrasound guidance under physician supervision during transfers

• Managing lab specimens and ensuring timely and accurate submission to appropriate labs

• Utilizing the EHR to document patient care and process lab orders/labels

• Supporting patients with empathy and clear procedural education

• Promoting excellence in customer service and acting as a resource to other staff members

• Participating in inventory management and maintaining adequate stock levels

• Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team and contributing to a compassionate clinical environment

What You’ll Bring:

The skills and education we need are:

• High School diploma required

• AHA BLS and ACLS Certifications required 

• Completion of a Medical Assistant or Scrub Tech program OR 3 years of hands-on OR experience

• Current CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire)

• Experience with aseptic and sterile techniques in surgical settings

• Strong understanding of medical terminology and surgical instrumentation

• High level of comfort using electronic health records and entering data accurately

• Ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and teammates

• Strong attention to detail, dependability, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

• Willingness to pitch in and help across roles to meet patient and team needs
