Job Description:

The College of Agriculture and LSU AgCenter at Louisiana State University seeks applicants for a 12-month, tenure-track position at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor level. This position is described as 50% teaching and advising and 50% research. The individual filling this position is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses (with an emphasis on graduate coursework) and to develop a strong research program of national scope focused on Agricultural Education, Extension Education or Agricultural Leadership. This position will teach in-person as well as distance education courses focused on agricultural, Extension, and adult education; advise students at the undergraduate and graduate levels (M.S. & Ph.D.); serve as the graduate advisor for the AEEE department; serve on departmental, college, and university committees; develop a focused area for scholarship in and seek extramural funding and other opportunities related to agricultural and Extension education.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses; advise undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Develop a strong research program of national scope focused on Agricultural Education, Extension Education or Agricultural Leadership and seek extramural funding and other opportunities related to agricultural and Extension education.
  • Serve as the graduate advisor for the AEEE department; serve on departmental, college, and university committees
  • Perform other duties outlined by the chair of the department.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD, by start date, in Agricultural Education, Extension Education, or closely related discipline.
  • At least three years of professional experience in agricultural education, Extension, or agricultural leadership
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills along with excellent teaching skills are required. Candidates should possess a strong publication record in relevant research areas and the ability to secure extramural funds to support their research program. The desired candidate should also have a strong record of working with graduate students in both research and advising. Previous experience managing graduate programs is preferred.

For Associate/Full Professor level rank:

  • PhD Agricultural Education, Extension Education, or closely related discipline.
  • Record of research productivity commensurate with rank.
  • Demonstrated ability to secure extramural grant funding.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD Agricultural Education, Extension Education, or closely related discipline.
  • Previous experience managing graduate programs is preferred. Demonstrated record in training graduate students. Record of research productivity commensurate with rank. Demonstrated ability to secure extramural grant funding.

Special Requirements: Willingness and ability to work evenings/weekends, work on or off-campus facilities, and travel. Additional duties and/or special projects may be incorporated into this position depending on the duties, skills and experience of the individual selected.

Additional Information: As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services. Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral, or mental health related matter they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center. In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students or the appropriate law enforcement agency. The employee outside of those rights contained within FERPA should create no impression of client or patient confidentiality.

Salary & Benefits: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. LSU has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options.
