Job Description

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading charity committed to strengthening community. Coordinates staffing, programming and training for the Childcare Department. Creates positive, nurturing relationships with children. Promotes and supports the potential of all youth at site and facilitates peer-to-peer connections as part of the overall childcare experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist in the development of the annual operating objectives and plan for the Childcare Department. Help to monitor the achievement of these objectives, notifying Director of deviations from the plan.
  • Assists in the monitoring of annual budget (income and expense) for the Department. Ensure that the department maintains a positive fiscal position.
  • Assists with the following activities: Recruit, hire, train, develop, supervise and evaluate school age childcare staff. This includes following all policies, procedures and timeframes of the association.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations and licensing.
  • Provide coverage to childcare sites, as needed, to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Act as Department Head in the absence of the Childcare Director.
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with applicable school districts and communities.
  • General support activities to support the childcare programs such, as typing, filing, returning phone calls to prospective program participants/parents.
  • Responsible for accurate completion of all childcare new hire and associated paperwork.
  • Actively support financial development events of the CDYMCA such as President's Award Dinner, Annual Campaign and Golf Classic.
  • Participate as an active member of P-Groups and committees, as requested.
  • Special projects as requested and needed.
  • Maintain a safe work environment, free of clutter, debris and hazardous conditions.
  • Familiar with all emergency procedures.
  • Report all accidents and incidents involving self, participants, guests or other employees.
  • Maintain cleanliness of facility as a member of Clean Team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • BA/BS in Education or a related field preferred; AAS in Childhood Education or a related field required.
  • Prior staff supervision and program curriculum experience preferred.
  • Prior work experience with childcare programs, staff scheduling and training preferred.
  • Prior work experience with preferred, as a coordinator or supervisor of childcare programs.
  • Trainings to complete within 30 days of hire: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff, CPR, First Aid, AED, and Blood borne Pathogens.
  • Trainings to complete within 90 days of hire: New Employee Orientation, Sexual Harassment, NYS OCFS Health & Safety and ALICE (Active Shooter).
  • Excellent organizational, communication and problem solving skills. Basic knowledge of computers.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Pay Rate: $26.00 per hour

Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 9:00am- 5:00pm; 40 hours weekly
