Job Description

Teaching and Research Requirements:

The Department of Economics in the College of Business invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in labor economics (JEL classification J and/or I1) and applied econometrics (JEL classification C1 or C8), starting August 2026.

Candidates must have a PhD in economics by August 24, 2026 and show evidence of high potential for excellence in teaching and significant research publishable in quality peer-reviewed economics journals. The successful candidate is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate-level classes, including applied econometrics, labor economics, applied microeconomics, and applied game theory. Other upper-level electives and graduate-level courses depend on the candidate's areas of specialty and departmental needs. The successful candidate will have a willingness and ability to become proficient in teaching data analytics using programming languages such as SAS, R, and Python.

Additional responsibilities include advising students, leading students' capstone senior project, assisting in curriculum development, and participating in other departmental activities as assigned by the department chair.

Departmental Summary

The Department of Economics in the College of Business offers an undergraduate Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Economics, an accelerated B.S. in Economics/Juris Doctorate degree, a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Business Data Analytics, and a Master of Science in Economics. Our undergraduate programs provide majors with broad knowledge of important theoretical aspects of economics as well as expertise in empirical analysis.
