Job Description
The LeBron James Family Foundation School of Education at the University of Akron (https://www.uakron.edu/education) invites applications for a (tenure-track) Assistant Professor position starting in August 2026.
Required Qualifications:
Earned doctorate in Education or similar doctorate-level degree related to education; degree must be conferred by start date.
Evidence of minimum 3 years successful classroom teaching experience in PK-8 setting
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in urban education
Experience teaching at the university level
Experience with curriculum development
Experience teaching primary methods courses
Evidence of ability to conduct research in urban education at a level of national recognition.
Instructional coaching in PreK-8 setting
Teaching load is 9 credits per semester with 3 credit load release each semester for research.

Specifically, as an urban research university, we are particularly interested in scholars whose work touches on the pressing needs of cities and urban communities.
