Assistant Professor of Mathematical Sciences
Eastern Connecticut State University is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the Assistant Professor of Mathematical Sciences position. Eastern is Connecticut’s Public Liberal Arts University and is located in Willimantic, Connecticut which is 1.5 hours from Boston and 2.5 hours from New York City.  Eastern is one of four universities in the Connecticut State College and University System (CSCU). The position also offers substantial health and retirement benefits.The Department of Mathematical Sciences invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position to begin Fall 2026. Applicants must have a strong commitment to teaching excellence, scholarship, student advisement, and university and community service. ECSU is especially interested in faculty with demonstrated excellence in teaching in the liberal arts curriculum and sensitivity to diverse populations and perspectives. The department is particularly interested in applicants with expertise in Data Science and Statistics.Position DescriptionThe applicant is expected to teach undergraduate mathematical science courses at all levels. In particular, the applicant will be expected to teach statistics and data science courses as well as related mathematics courses and courses in Eastern’s liberal arts curriculum. The applicant may have opportunities to teach in an Applied Data Science Master’s program. Responsibilities for the position also include advising, curriculum development, research/creative activity, engagement in professional activities and development, and active service to the department, University, and community. The workload is equivalent to 12 credit hours per semester.QualificationsCandidates must have a Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, or a closely related field completed by August 2026. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to undergraduate education in a liberal arts environment and scholarly research.
