Job Description:
The LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center invites applications for a faculty position to teach and serve as Director of our Veterans Legal Clinic. This is a twelve-month appointment on the Law Center's Professional Practice faculty track, a long-term contract position fully compliant with ABA Standard 405(c).
The Veterans Legal Clinic is an integral component of the Law Center's robust clinical program and holds significant potential for growth, including the development of partnerships with numerous community-based veteran organizations and service providers.
Responsibilities:
The Director will lead a dynamic clinic that provides direct legal services and community education to Louisiana's large veteran population. The position requires active engagement with the community and a willingness to participate in public-facing initiatives, including social media features highlighting the clinic's impact.
Teach a Veterans Legal Clinic and other courses as determined by the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Assistant Dean of Experiential Education.
Maintain active engagement in the national clinical legal education community and the state and local Bar Associations related to professional interests and expertise.
Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities commensurate with rank.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school or foreign equivalent.
Minimum of 5 years of practice and/or teaching experience.
Superior academic credentials, experience in providing legal services to veterans (or other equivalent legal practice experience).
