TALLADEGA COLLEGEAssistant Volleyball Coach – Candidate Requirement SheetPosition SummaryTalladega College Athletics is seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable AssistantVolleyball Coach to support the continued growth and success of the Tornadoes Volleyballprogram. Reporting directly to the Head Volleyball Coach, the Assistant Coach will assist withon-court coaching, player development, recruiting, game preparation, and administrativeoperations while upholding the mission and values of Talladega College and NAIA athletics.Primary Responsibilities1. Coaching & Player Development (Approx. 40%)● Assist in planning and conducting daily practices that emphasize skill development, teamsystems, conditioning, and volleyball IQ● Provide position-specific instruction and technical feedback to student-athletes● Evaluate athlete performance and contribute to individualized development plans● Support strength, conditioning, and injury-prevention efforts in coordination with athletictraining staff2. Recruiting & Talent Evaluation (Approx. 25%)● Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes through film review, scouting,camps, showcases, and communication● Assist with official and unofficial visits, prospect communication, and recruiting follow-up● Maintain recruiting records and databases in accordance with NAIA eligibility andrecruiting regulations● Collaborate with admissions, financial aid, and compliance to support rostermanagement3. Game Preparation & Strategy (Approx. 20%)● Assist the Head Coach with game planning, scouting reports, lineups, and matchstrategy● Analyze opponent film and contribute to tactical adjustments● Support match-day preparation, warm-ups, and in-game responsibilities4. Administrative Support & Collaboration (Approx. 10%)● Work collaboratively with athletic training, academic support, and game managementstaff● Assist with team travel planning, practice logistics, and program operations● Help maintain statistics, reports, and internal documentation as directed5. Other Duties (Approx. 5%)● Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletics Administration● Uphold and ensure compliance with Talladega College, NAIA, HBCUAC conference, andpolicies● Serve as a positive mentor and role model for student-athletesMinimum Qualifications● Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred)● Volleyball coaching experience at the collegiate, club, or high school level● Strong knowledge of volleyball fundamentals, training methods, and rules● Understanding of NAIA eligibility and recruiting processes (or willingness to learn)● Excellent communication, organization, and relationship-building skillsPreferred Qualifications● Prior collegiate coaching or recruiting experience● Experience with video analysis software (e.g., Hudl, DataVolley, Volleymetrics)● Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel● Commitment to the academic, athletic, and personal development of student-athletes
