Your opportunity:
We're currently looking for a Asst. Power Plant Operator at our Huhtamaki Facility in Waterville and you should be within reasonable commuting distance from here. You will be working on shift pattern of four on and four off, rotating days and nights.
What you'll be doing:
Checks and maintains safe and efficient operations of high-pressure boilers and related equipment including air compressors, water pumps, and fuel pumps.
Monitors gauges and computer printout of machine performance: tends oilier controls and gauges: adjusts or repairs broken or worn parts. Periodically cleans and overhauls boilers. Sets and adjusts controls to achieve desired performance.
Maintains equipment
Periodically checks water conditions with test equipment and adds conditioning chemicals as required.
Checks and adjusts emission control equipment and recorders
Maintain company records of boiler room operations. Set up checks and replaces recording charts and tapes. Maintains log operations by shift.
Assist power plant operator as required
Assist in training the power plant trainee
Keeps boiler room equipment clean and orderly.
Notifies supervisors of any potentially dangerous equipment, practices, or violations of safety procedures.
Maintain the highest level of efficiencies within the operating department.
Maintain a safe working environment.
Train other personnel of the functions of this position.
Write comprehensive operating manuals as required
Prepare required information for shift changes as required.
Develops among assigned personnel a consciousness for the need for teamwork to attain the highest quality and productivity.
Assisting on troubling shooting and maintain equipment.
Team member in departmental Safety Audits
Care for all Company issued tools and maintain a clean and safe work area/s
What you'll bring to the role
Qualification:
Graduate of technical school and attain a valid state of Maine license for operation of boilers.
Personal Computer literacy.
Follow safety procedures at all times
Training for confined space supervision
Strong Leadership and technical knowledge of departments assists machinery.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
High level of technical competencies
Physical Requirements:
Visual acuity (corrected) to read directions and prints and to inspect machined parts, product to ensure parts meet specifications.
Manual dexterity sufficient to operate machinery for precision work.
Physical ability to do work requiring frequent stooping, standing, squatting, bending, crawling, twisting and lifting of 50 pounds.
