Azure Systems Network EngineerThis is a remote position with the potential for occasional travel within the United StatesPURPOSE The Azure Systems Network Engineer is a hands-on technical role responsible for implementing, operating, and supporting Microsoft Azure infrastructure and network solutions across client and internal environments.This position blends Azure systems engineering and Azure networking responsibilities, supporting cloud and hybrid deployments with a strong emphasis on secure connectivity, infrastructure automation, and operational reliability. The engineer works closely with architects, project teams, and clients to deliver scalable, secure, and well-documented Azure solutions aligned with organizational and customer standards.RESPONSIBILITIES Azure Infrastructure & Network Implementation
- Deploy, configure, and support Azure infrastructure including virtual machines, storage, identity, networking, and security services.
- Implement Azure networking solutions including:
- Virtual Networks (VNets), subnets, and IP addressing
- Network Security Groups (NSGs) and User Defined Routes (UDRs)
- Azure Firewall and basic traffic filtering rules
- Site-to-site and point-to-site VPN connectivity
- Azure Load Balancer and Application Gateway
- Support hybrid connectivity between Azure and on-premises environments.
- Assist with network segmentation and access control aligned to security best practices.
- Deploy and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
- Support CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions for infrastructure deployments.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell and Bash to streamline operational tasks.
- Follow version control and change management best practices.
- Administer and support Windows and Linux virtual machines in Azure and hybrid environments.
- Assist with Azure Entra ID (Azure AD) administration, RBAC, and identity integrations.
- Monitor system health, performance, and availability using Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.
- Support patching, backup, recovery, and basic cost optimization activities.
- Assist with certificate management and secure system configurations.
- Support infrastructure and network migrations from on-premises or third-party environments into Azure.
- Execute migration runbooks and assist with cutover activities.
- Participate in environment readiness checks and post-migration validation.
- Document implementation steps, configurations, and operational procedures.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to deliver sprint commitments.
- Update user stories, tasks, and documentation as part of ongoing delivery.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and team standards.
- Work with clients to gather technical requirements and clarify implementation details.
- Provide implementation updates and technical explanations to project stakeholders.
- Support client technical working sessions under the guidance of senior engineers or architects.
- Maintain a professional, client-focused approach in all engagements.
- Implement secure infrastructure and networking configurations following established standards.
- Assist with remediation of security findings related to infrastructure or network controls.
- Support logging, monitoring, and alerting configurations required for compliance.
- Follow internal security, change control, and documentation standards.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by management.
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience).
- 5 years of experience in systems engineering, infrastructure, or cloud-related roles.
- 5 years hands-on experience working with Microsoft Azure.
- Practical experience with:
- Azure networking fundamentals (VNets, NSGs, VPNs)
- Azure virtual machines and storage
- Azure Entra ID (Azure AD) and RBAC
- Experience using Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Bicep, or ARM).
- Experience with enterprise networking concepts (firewalls, routing, VPNs).
- Familiarity with PowerShell scripting.
- Ability to work effectively within an Agile delivery environment.
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Microsoft certifications such as:
- Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)
- Azure Administrator Associate
- Azure Network Engineer Associate
- Experience supporting hybrid Azure/on-prem environments.
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
- Experience working in managed services or professional services environments.
