Job Description
We are looking for a Medical Staff Coordinator to join our collaborative team at Memorial Health!
What You'll Do:
Assists with payer credentialing for Memorial Health, completing initial and ongoing credentialing processes required by Government and Commercial insurance companies; mails, reviews and verifies credentialing applications; completes and maintains CAQH files or online equivalent for all providers within MMG; tracks license and certification expirations for all providers to ensure timely renewal; responds in a timely fashion to payer requests for information and updates; ensure provider credentialing is completed in a timely fashion, during initial employment period and annually as needed.
Assists with Initial appointments (i.e., collecting mandatory information, core privileging, competencies for special privileges, primary source verification of affiliations, peer references and education); responsible for dissemination of new practitioner information to Memorial Hospital team for MMG, the Hospital and Urgent Care.
Responsible for execution and compliance of the reappointment process; assures continued compliance with non-stagnant credentialing information (i.e. Expired license, DEA, certifications, malpractice, etc.); coordinates special projects to meet medical staff member’s needs. Collects appropriate information to maintain electronic credentials files.
Responsible for decisions and management related to maintenance of the Verity Credentials Stream Credentialing Database keeping abreast of current updates and reporting abilities and serves as a resource for Memorial Hospital in this area.
Prepares correspondence and communications with the Medical Staff including but not limited to monthly staff meetings, expirations of credentialing items necessary for compliance and formal letters; is responsible for preparation of information for meeting packets, medical staff minutes and flyers and necessary follow-up after the meeting.
Stays current and in compliance with regulatory standards and policies and procedures relating to the Medical Staff including industry standards (i.e. standards for accrediting body, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), COPs, Bylaws, Policy and Procedures and National Association Medical Staff Services (NAMSS), etc.).
Requirements
Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) certification or 3 years experience in a Medical Staff Office or any combination of equivalent education and/or training; Knowledge in healthcare and healthcare operations with a minimum of 3 – 5 years confirmed experience in payer credentialing, understanding of physician office practices preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare preferred. Knowledge and application of Microsoft Office Suite. Demonstrates knowledge and application of statistics and data analysis. Knowledge of standards for accrediting body, CMS and Ohio Department of Health (ODH) regulatory standards. CPCS certified or attainment of certification within three years of employment.
