Pathways In Education (PIE) is a public charter school serving grades 9-12 in the Nampa and Meridian communities. Pathways considers the unique needs of every student, allowing access to small group classes, guided independent study, online courses, and experiential learning, to address each student's individual strengths and needs.

The Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and Wellness Counselor is responsible for providing needs-based behavioral and social-emotional services to students with and without IEPs. In addition to working directly with students and their teachers, this non-clinical role will be responsible for planning and implementing a Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) to support schools in the development of positive school climate, classroom management, social and emotional skills development, restorative practices, and behavioral interventions processes. The SEL Counselor supports student social-emotional learning and wellness through direct interaction and by assisting educators and families.

PIE is looking for educators and staff that are warm, outgoing, authentic, passionate and inspiring. PIE places great emphasis on the student-teacher relationship, a critical component to the development of students’ personal, emotional, and academic well-being.

The Social-Emotional Learning and Wellness Counselor will have the following responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group counseling to address students’ social-emotional and behavioral needs.

  • Consult directly and indirectly with students, teachers, and school staff to support SEL development and behavioral interventions.

  • Conduct universal screenings to identify behavioral and social-emotional concerns.

  • Participate in assessment, behavior planning, intervention implementation, and progress monitoring.

  • Provide social-emotional learning services to students with and without IEPs (504s and general education); methods to be used must be tailored to meet individual, group, or classroom needs.

  • Consult with faculty, staff, parents, resources, and outside agencies on socio-cultural and emotional factors affecting student academic performance.

  • Consulting with Leadership to identify priorities, develop action plans, and monitor progress.

  • Participate in Annual IEP meetings, Eligibility Determination meetings, and Three-Year Re-evaluations as well as 504 meetings.

  • Coaches and supports school staff in determining the effectiveness of current referral, assessment, and progress monitoring practices.

  • Coordinate Tier 2 & 3 behavioral health and SEL supports to ensure the effectiveness of identifying root causes of student behavioral issues and implementing the appropriate interventions to meet students’ social and emotional needs.

  • Responsible for scheduling and chairing bi-monthly MTSS Team meetings; Utilize the Problem-Solving Process to identify campus-specific and individual student needs, then lead the team in collaborative efforts to establish appropriate school-wide or individual interventions for referred students; Provide general technical assistance on data entry and reporting for universal screenings, SEL MTSS referrals, and interventions.

  • Support school staff in delivering evidence-based small group interventions and oversee the development of SEL lessons to address the CASEL’s 5 core competencies.

  • Conduct research, then establish and maintain community partnerships and linkages for social services and behavioral health supports.

Education and Experience:

  • Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a similar field preferred.

  • Valid State of Idaho Professional Educator License preferred.

  • 3+ years of experience working in or with adolescents and youth in an urban setting with a focus on social, emotional, and behavioral support required.
