Job Description

Summary

The Service Plumber role is responsible for inspecting, documenting, maintaining, and performing repairs to support the safe, efficient operation of plumbing systems at commercial properties.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Inspect plumbing systems, including water lines, drains, fixtures, backflow devices and water meters for functionality.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with leaks, clogs, low water pressure, water meters and backflows.
  • Coordinate installation or replacement of plumbing components such as valves, meters and fixtures in landlord-maintained areas.
  • Maintain and service master and sub water meters, including troubleshooting remote meter reading systems (Next Century preferred).
  • Perform preventative maintenance and system testing to identify and address potential plumbing failures.
  • Support the installation and maintenance of backflow prevention assemblies.
  • Work with property management to schedule and prioritize repairs.
  • Ensure all systems are maintained according to standards and local regulations.
  • Track and manage inspection reports, tools, equipment and supplies.
  • Respond to emergency calls, including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

  • Active driver's license is required.
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in plumbing service and repair, preferably in a commercial or property management setting.
  • Hands-on experience with backflows, water meters and remote meter reading systems (Next Century preferred).
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with plumbing codes, safety standards and the ability to read blueprints and diagrams.
  • Effective communication, documentation and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Flexibility to respond to emergencies when necessary.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and operate tools and equipment necessary for plumbing tasks.
  • Dexterity to handle small components and perform precise plumbing work.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights up to 30 feet.
  • Extended periods of standing, walking and driving between locations.
