Overview:
Our Client is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our legal team as a Secretary/Paralegal with specialized experience in workers' compensation cases. In this role, you will provide administrative support to attorneys while also utilizing your legal knowledge to assist in managing workers' compensation cases. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of workers' compensation laws and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Administrative Support:
  • Manage attorney calendars, schedule appointments, and coordinate meetings.
  • Answer phone calls, take messages, and handle correspondence.
  • Prepare and organize legal documents, including briefs, pleadings, and motions.
  • File and maintain electronic and physical case records.
  • Case Management:
  • Assist attorneys in preparing for hearings, depositions, and trials.
  • Conduct legal research and gather relevant case information.
  • Draft and file workers' compensation forms, petitions, and other court documents.
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and insurance companies regarding case updates and documentation.
  • Document Review and Analysis:
  • Review medical records, employment histories, and other relevant documents.
  • Summarize case facts and key findings for attorney review.
  • Analyze legal issues and provide recommendations based on research and case precedent.
  • Client Interaction:
  • Serve as a point of contact for clients, providing updates on case status and answering inquiries.
  • Gather client information and assist in completing necessary forms and documentation.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all client interactions.
  • Compliance and Reporting:
  • Ensure compliance with legal regulations and deadlines.
  • Assist in preparing reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor case progress and update relevant parties as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience working as a secretary or paralegal, with a focus on workers' compensation cases.
  • Knowledge of workers' compensation laws, procedures, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in legal research and document drafting.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in all work.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
