Position Title: HVAC/Kitchen Technician
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Manager of Building Systems
Location: Bentonville, Arkansas (On-site)

About the Position:
The HVAC/Kitchen Technician is responsible for general daily maintenance and operation on all aspects of the campus kitchens, HVAC, mechanical, boiler, and plumbing systems. Although the position requires some scheduling flexibility, its work schedule is primarily 40 hours per week.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform preventative and maintenance on kitchen related equipment and refrigeration systems.
- Assist in all standards, policies, and procedures as they relate to mechanical and plumbing systems.
- Monitor and maintain the kitchen ventilation hoods, stoves, ovens, and HVAC control systems.
- Have a working knowledge and competency to monitor and maintain the boiler systems.
- Assist in the development of planned maintenance schedules for all HVAC, refrigeration units, vent hoods, cooking equipment, mechanical and plumbing systems.
- Respond to and manage work orders, keep logs of inspections, and tool inventory through the centralized maintenance management system.
- Assist in inspections for regulatory compliance.
- Assist with the safety program, monitoring compliance with applicable building and safety codes, hazardous waste disposal, OSHA, hazardous materials, etc.
- Required to participate in the on-call rotation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications required for your success:
- Working knowledge to maintain kitchen equipment, coolers, freezers, and provide training when needed.
- 3-5 years working knowledge of mechanical, HVAC, boiler, refrigeration and building control management equipment and systems.
- Working knowledge of principles and practices of federal, state, and local law, code, and regulations applicable to the work, including regulations applicable to safe work practices and procedures.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and can communicate effective with peers and culinary staff.
- Highest ethics as they relate to all aspects of business.
- Basic computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
- Strong oral and written communications skills.
- Strong organizational skills and capable of operating tools that could be hazardous.
- Trouble shooting/ analyzing systems – Problem Solving Skills.
- Ability to learn our centralized maintenance management system.
- Ability to work independently and with initiative.
- Ability to effectively contribute to a project team dynamic.
- Ability to cross train within the various teams of our facilities department.

Physical Demands: In the work environment described, this role requires a high level of physical activity and sustained use of a computer and telephone for prolonged periods of time. The position requires effective verbal and written communication with others, good eye/hand coordination, and the ability to lift and transport up to 75 pounds. Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. This role regularly involves standing, walking, using hands and fingers to handle or operate tools, controls, and equipment, reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and communicating clearly with others. The position requires operation of standard maintenance equipment such as hand tools, power tools, ladders, forklifts, and aerial lifts (e.g., scissor or boom lifts). Duties include performing routine inspections, which may involve navigating tight or elevated spaces, exposure to hot and cold equipment, and occasionally working at heights. The ability to respond promptly and physically to urgent situations, including during off-hours as part of the on-call rotation, is essential.
Work Environment: Work is performed in both indoor office settings and outdoor environments, including exposure to varying weather conditions, mechanical rooms, rooftops, and other facility systems areas. The noise level is low to moderate, however, operating certain equipment may result in higher noise levels. Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The employee is required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with safety protocols. This position may involve working in confined spaces or environments with temperature fluctuations depending on the season or building system conditions. Flexibility in working hours, including weekends and evenings, may be necessary to support operational needs.
