Job Description

Hiring Range: $24.08-$28.30.

The Summer Maintenance Tech assists the maintenance department with a variety of tasks and activities throughout the summer months. The position involves working primarily in an outdoor environment, performing tasks such as landscaping, irrigation, and general upkeep, with occasional indoor projects related to building maintenance and repairs. The role requires flexibility, as the work can range from physical labor to assisting with the maintenance of airport systems, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and safely.

Schedule:

  • Monday to Tuesday or Wednesday to Thursday (6:00AM to 4:30PM) 10 Hour days - maximum 20 hours a week
  • Able to participate in overnight shifts (6:30PM to 5:00AM) for projects
  • Opportunity for extra hours depending on staffing levels and projects (must be approved by supervisor or manager)

Essential Functions:

  • Grounds Maintenance: Perform landscaping, irrigation, planting, and debris removal from grass areas, rock islands, and the airport perimeter fence, and maintain parking lots. (20%)
  • General Facility Maintenance: Maintain, repair, and/or remodel buildings, lighting fixtures, furniture, grounds, carpentry, fences, gates, asphalt, and concrete surfaces.
  • Perform interior and exterior painting. (20%)
  • Airport Cleanliness: Assist with trash removal throughout the airport grounds and inside the terminal. (10%)
  • System Support: Assist in the maintenance of airport systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and computer controls. (10%)
  • Baggage Handling & System Support: Respond to baggage tie-ups/jams; safely load, unload, and position baggage (up to 60 lbs), handling with care; monitor and reset the baggage system as needed; maintain the cleanliness of baggage areas. (15%)
  • Stakeholder Relations: Develop and maintain positive relationships with airport staff, tenants, concessionaires, and airport users. (5%)
  • Observes safety and security procedures, uses equipment and materials safely and reports potentially unsafe conditions. (5%)
  • Serves the community by demonstrating Eagle County Government mission and core values and following relevant policies and procedures. (5%)
  • Other duties as assigned. (10%)

Qualifications:

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification, or Registration:

  • Minimum Work Experience

  • Some relevant work experience is beneficial.

  • Skill and knowledge to perform routine tasks would be helpful.

  • Preferred Work Experience

  • One (1) year of experience in physical work involving heavy lifting and carrying.

  • One (1) year of experience working at an airport.

  • Experience with mechanical systems, irrigation systems, landscaping, and equipment operation.

  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory motor vehicle check preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must successfully pass a 10-year background criminal history records check in accordance with TSR, Part 1542 and maintain eligibility for FAA and TSA-mandated security clearance requirements.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain a professional attitude and focus under pressure.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding security matters.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Physical ability to exert up to 60+ pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently; including reaching, handling, fingering, and grasping.
  • Ability to occasionally lift objects up to 70 lbs.
  • Physical flexibility to bend, stoop, kneel, and move around to perform maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to hear normal conversational tones and equipment/emergency alerts.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain alertness throughout the workday.
