The WordPress team at Boston Globe Media supports a portfolio of properties that includes Boston.com, BostonMagazine.com and BostonGlobeMedia.com. These properties see more than 5 million unique visitors each month and are responsible for more than 30 million monthly page views.
The Product Manager is responsible for working with business stakeholders to identify key business objectives, and providing consumer experiences that best showcase our journalism while meeting our business goals.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate on the development and execution of product strategies for the WordPress team's digital offerings
- Partner with business stakeholders and Product to establish and maintain a sponsored content strategy that supports our various brands
- Optimize newsletter performance through routine audience / list maintenance
- Conduct market research and analyze user data to identify opportunities for new features and improvements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, and marketing to support product delivery
- Help define and prioritize product requirements, contributing to the creation of detailed specifications and user stories
- Maintain the product backlog and ensure timely delivery of features
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide insights to inform product decisions
- Engage with users and stakeholders to gather feedback, develop use cases, and contribute to product enhancements
- Maintain documentation including user guides, test case repositories, and release notes
- Serve as back-up to Quality Assurance and assisting with continuous release delivery
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- 2-4 years of experience in product management or a related field
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate it into actionable insights
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to document and perform detail-oriented processes
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and project management tools
- Basic understanding of web analytics and user research techniques
- Familiarity with web advertising
- A willingness to adapt and be audience focused, with a curious mindset and a commitment to creating an inclusive work environment
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with content management systems and digital publishing platforms - WordPress experience is a bonus
- Basic understanding of SEO principles and digital advertising ecosystems
- Experience with mobile app development and strategy
- Familiarity with the Boston market and local news landscape
The BGMP office is located in downtown Boston, near Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market, and is easily accessible by MBTA and commuter rail lines. For this role, we will consider candidates who are based anywhere in the United States.
