Cook
This position is located at the LSUA Children's Center in Alexandria, LA.
Job Description:
- Prepare and serve meals and snacks according to the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and center guidelines
- Ensure each student is given correct food items, per their specialized diets
- Prepare and serve special snacks or treats, as applicable
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, including the kitchen, dining room, and pantry
- Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils
- Assist teachers in cleaning their designated areas post-meals
- Prepare daily bleach bottles for kitchen and classrooms
- Operate equipment such as stoves, ovens, air fryers, etc...
- Ensure equipment is operating properly and inform director of any issues
- Handle and store ingredients and food
- Check the quality and freshness of ingredients and products and inform director of any issues
- Create weekly grocery lists according to what is on the upcoming menu
- Shop for needed groceries and kitchen products-both online and in the store
- Inspect food orders as they arrive to determine the accuracy and quality of deliveries
- Submit expense reports for LaCarte card purchases
- Conduct monthly inventory
- Create menus and make them accessible to parents and staff
- Notate any menu changes on the menu in the kitchen and parent menu
- Complete daily attendance, menu worksheets, and other CACFP paperwork, as needed
- Create and maintain a recipe book of popular meals and snacks
- Participate in staff meetings and staff workdays
- Complete annual LSU trainings, per LSU's policy
- Complete any other LSU requirements, as applicable
- Complete a minimum of 12 continuing education hours, per licensing year
- Complete CACFP trainings, as needed
- Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of children as needed within the center
