Job Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and innovative Electrical Test Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team. In this role, you will develop and execute testing strategies for the electrical systems critical to the operation of our SMRs, including power conversion, control systems, and instrumentation. You'll be hands-on with prototype systems, working closely with design, firmware, and safety teams to ensure system integrity, performance, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write, execute, and document test plans for electrical subsystems including power electronics, control boards, wiring harnesses, and embedded systems.
  • Build and maintain test setups and automated test infrastructure for validation and verification of electrical components.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues during system integration and testing phases.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, nuclear, and software teams to define interface requirements and ensure test coverage.
  • Perform root cause analysis and recommend design improvements based on test data.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE, IEC, NRC guidelines).
  • Contribute to safety analyses and quality documentation to support certification efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical test engineering, preferably in high-reliability or safety-critical environments (e.g., aerospace, automotive, energy).
  • Strong knowledge of electrical circuit analysis, instrumentation, and test methodologies.
  • Proficiency with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power analyzers, DAQs) and test automation tools (Python, LabVIEW, etc.).
  • Experience testing power electronics (DC-DC converters, inverters, etc.) and digital/analog circuits.
  • Hands-on experience with PCB bring-up, debug, and failure analysis.
  • Experience working with voltages up to 480VAC/1000VDC.
  • Familiarity with nuclear or radiation-tolerant electronics is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as necessary to accomplish our mission.
  • Must work 100% onsite at El Segundo HQ.
