The Project Manager I supports and leads the delivery of commercial construction projects while developing the skills, judgment, and leadership expected of a future senior project leader at Wolverine Building Group.
This role is responsible for managing key aspects of project execution-from design coordination through closeout-while ensuring safety, quality, schedule, budget, and client expectations are met. The Project Manager I works closely with Superintendents, Project Engineers, trade partners, and clients while living Wolverine's core values: doing the right thing, striving for greatness, finding solutions, and stepping up and stepping in.
PROJECT DELIVERY & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support and lead commercial construction projects from design through closeout under the guidance of senior leadership
- Coordinate with clients, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and Superintendents to ensure alignment and execution
- Assist with and manage estimating, budgeting, scheduling, buyout, and closeout activities
- Champion a Safety-First mindset and help enforce site-specific safety plans
- Participate in and help lead project meetings, including kickoff, coordination, and progress meetings
- Assist with contract administration, including subcontracts, scope review, and compliance tracking
- Track and support project financials including budgets, invoices, change orders, and reporting dashboards
- Identify construction and design issues and escalate or resolve them in collaboration with the project team
- Support and collaborate with Project Engineers, Assistant Project Managers, and field leadership
- Communicate clearly and professionally with internal teams and external partners
- Represent Wolverine Building Group with integrity, accountability, and professionalism on every project
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or equivalent construction experience
- Approximately 3-5 years of experience in commercial construction project management or a closely related role
- Experience supporting or managing varied and intermediate commercial projects
- Valid Driver's License
- Experience working for a commercial General Contractor preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Working knowledge of project management principles, construction means and methods, and critical path scheduling
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software such as Procore
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Professional, confident demeanor with clients, trade partners, and teammates
- Ability to communicate sensitive information tactfully and professionally
- Desire to learn, grow, and take on increasing responsibility
