A DAY IN THE LIFE

Our Staff Industrial Hygienist, opportunity is located in Robbinsville, NJ.

As a key member of the team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:

  • Conduct asbestos inspections, lead-based paint surveys, and lead in drinking water sampling in New Jersey and Mid-Atlantic area and assist in other duties, such as industrial hygiene monitoring, indoor air quality, site H&S oversight, data review, and report preparation.

  • This is a hands-on position involving travel to locations throughout New Jersey and surrounding areas, as well as overnight and out of state travel approximately 20% of the year. Candidates must possess a valid driver's license, be able to successfully complete a medical exam designed to evaluate the ability to perform physical requirements of the position (e.g. bending, kneeling, standing, confined space entry, and lifting and carrying objects weighing 30 pounds), and be able to wear a respirator.

  • You will also receive cross-training to support our Emergency Response Team. In this capacity, you'll participate in field activities such as soil and groundwater sampling, and may contribute to preparation of environmental sampling documents, permit applications, compliance plans, and technical reports as requested by project managers.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Candidates should possess:

  • 1 to 5 years' experience in conducting asbestos and lead-based surveys.

  • Current AHERA asbestos training certifications (inspector at a minimum).

  • Current NJDOH lead-based paint inspector and risk assessor certifications.

  • Experience with applicable Federal, state and local regulations.

  • Experience in preparation of inspection reports.

  • Personal interface and communications abilities and able to work as a member of a field and office team.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.

The following are also highly desirable:

  • Project management experience with smaller projects.

  • Experience in technical report writing preferred.

  • NJ AST certification.

  • Safety, HAZWOPER, and confined space training.

  • New York and Pennsylvania asbestos and lead-based paint certifications.

  • Experience performing Site Safety for construction/remediation projects.

  • An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in safety, industrial hygiene, or related field.
