The ASC Nurse, Pre-Op, Post-Op performs nursing functions according to the sequential steps of the nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation as defined by the Oregon State Board of Nursing.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Participates and maintains a culture within The Corvallis Clinic that is consistent with the content outlined in the Service and Behavioral Standards Handbook. To this end, employee will be expected to read, have familiarity, and embrace the principles contained within
- Provides nursing care according to the sequential steps of the nursing process: assessment, planning intervention, implementation and evaluation
- Opens, cleans and restocks the unit for the day
- Assists in preparation of all necessary medication/equipment involved in patient care
- Admits patient to procedure room/post-operative area, assess and documents patient status, formulates plan of care and completes all physician orders
- Monitors and assesses patient's condition throughout the procedure and/or post-operative period
- Provides instructions, information and counseling to patients and their families as needed
- Assists in all areas, as needed, to balance work load and assure quality patient care
- Improve the quality of care through continuing education and self-evaluation of the effectiveness of care. This includes attendance/participation in most in-services/department meetings and remaining current on clinic/department policies and procedures
- Participates in the orientation and training of new employees

Required Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing
- Current unencumbered State of Oregon license as a Registered Nurse
- Current CPR certification, ACLS or able to obtain ACLS within six (6) months of hire date
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to complete BLS certification within 90 days of hire
- 3+ years of experience with at 2+ years of experience in critical care, PACU or Medical Surgical Nursing
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current PALS
- Knowledge of basic clinical skills to provide patient care
- Evidence of working knowledge of the nursing process
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of peri-operative nursing care in the freestanding ambulatory surgery unit
- Demonstrated knowledge of pre and post-operative equipment usage and troubleshooting of such
- Demonstrated flexibility and leadership with unscheduled procedure changes
- Proven ability to manage emergency situations in a calm and confident manner
- Proven ability to work well with providers, clinical staff and patients
- Proven ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously in a busy, fast-paced environment while maintaining quality of work
Work Environment:
- Exposed to patient and environmental conditions, and some unpleasant sights, smells and contagious diseases
The hourly range for this role is $28.61 to $56.06 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
