Job Description

Overview:

JLL Income Property Trust, Inc. (“JLLIPT”) an externally advised, daily valued perpetual-life real estate investment trust ("REIT") that owns and manages a diversified portfolio of industrial, healthcare, residential, retail and other properties located in the United States is seeking a Senior Tax Manager in the firm’s Chicago headquarters to assist with the tax advisory and compliance for JLLIPT and its investors.  JLL Exchange (“JLLX”), a wholly owned subsidiary of JLLIPT operates an IRC Section 1031 investment program to allow investors with appreciated property the opportunity to invest in a JLLIPT property to defer taxes.  Reporting to the CFO of JLLIPT, this position will work closely with several of JLLIPT’s internal teams including but not limited to accounting, finance, investor relations, tax, technology and legal as well as with external tax advisors, investors and their financial advisors. 

Roles/Accountabilities:

  • Achieve excellence in traditional tax management activities for JLLIPT, including E&P calculations, tax provisions and general tax compliance support. 
  • Interact with JLLX investors and JLLIPT limited partners and their advisors to answer questions on tax basis and compliance reporting.  
  • Closely collaborate with internal and third parties and serve in a consultative capacity providing recommendations for ways in which we can utilize technology to streamline the tax reporting, compliance, data retrieval and storage processes for JLLIPT.
  • Assist in the management of third party tax advisor relationships to provide oversight and quality assurance.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of seven years’ experience in industry or public accounting. Real estate, REIT, individual and partnership tax compliance experience preferred
  • IRC Section 1031 and 721 knowledge required
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong sense of ownership, teamwork and excellent organizational skills
  • Creativity and very high attention to detail and quality
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to interact with external and internal clients required
  • Self-starter with strong problem solving and quantitative skills

Estimated total compensation for this position:

175,000.00 – 220,000.00 USD per year

The total compensation range is an estimate and not guaranteed. An employment offer is based on an applicant's education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity and alignment with market data .
