A Brief Overview

Assumes responsibility for teaching a variety of family life education classes, producing and reviewing written family life education materials and representing Avera in outreach activities related to family life education.

What you will do

• Oversees the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the United Way Success by Six grant programs.
• Implements program improvement strategies, maintains program statistics, and assists in developing budget for family life education programs.
• Possesses knowledge and skills in the science and art of teaching children and adults.
• Develops and updates education programs and materials to meet identified needs of parents and their children.
• Assists family members to identify their own needs and facilitates their learning process.
• Develops teaching plan for adults including goals, objectives, teaching strategies, and criteria for evaluation.
• Understands and applies the principles of human development through the life span.
• Establishes working relationships with other professionals/community agencies.
• Promotes services through outreach activities (booths, fairs, workshops) and media (TV, radio, newspaper).
• Represents Avera by serving on committees for local or regional organizations that address children's issues.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

• High School or GED Equivalent

Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

• Bachelor's
• 1-3 years Related experience and/or training
