JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Director of Education and Organizational Professional Development is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and leading activities within Olympic Medical Center and Patient Care Services related to education and organizational professional development, nursing practice, care delivery systems, evidenced-based practice, and nursing outcomes improvement. The Director will take a leadership role in overseeing the professional development and education programs, supporting the application of evidence-based practices and programs, and defining innovative strategies to build a culture of clinical excellence and reliable care. The role requires the synthesis of expert knowledge in the areas of adult education and professional development principles, evidence-based practice, and clinical practice standards in the practice setting.
The Director plays a key role in designing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs that enhance the knowledge, skills, and competencies of staff. He/She collaborates with various stakeholders to identify developmental and learning needs, develops comprehensive educational plans, monitors their effectiveness, and facilitates engaging learning experiences. The Director ensures conformance with Olympic Medical Center’s Mission, Vision, and Values as well as current clinical practices and procedures, regulatory and accreditation standards, and the incorporation of evidence-based best practices.
The Director serves as an Educator, Change Agent, Researcher, Servant Leader, and Mentor.
EDUCATION
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing preferred.
- Master’s degree required (will consider candidates currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program with the understanding it will be completed within two years of hire).
- BSN required if Master’s degree is in a discipline other than nursing.
EXPERIENCE
- Three years of clinical nursing experience required, and two years of leadership experience required.
- Demonstrated experience in progressive education roles required.
- Experience in curriculum design, development, and instruction required.
LICENSURE/CREDENTIALS
- Current state of Washington license or temporary/compact license to practice professional nursing required.
- Certification in Basic Life Support required.
- Certification in Nursing Professional Development (ANPD) specialty required or must obtain within two years.
