Wages as Earned (EMS Assistant)

Job Summary:

The EMS Instructor assistant is responsible for assisting in comprehensive instruction in emergency medical services topics. This includes the delivery of didactic, psychomotor, and affective learning experiences. The assistant plays a vital role in shaping competent EMS practitioners by adhering to state and national standards and maintaining a high quality of education.

Job Responsibilities:

40%--Provide assistance to students in EMS courses, ensuring content aligns with the National EMS Education Standards and any additional state-approved elements.

25%--Assist the primary instructor in delivering course content, utilizing a variety of teaching methodologies to accommodate learning needs.

15%--Maintain accurate and organized student attendance, performance, and progress records.

15%--Adhere to instructor qualification standards set by the Bureau of EMS, and obtain approval before providing instruction.

5%--Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

LSU values skills, experience, and expertise. Candidates who have relevant experience in key job responsibilities are encouraged to apply- a degree is not required as long as the candidate meets the required years of experience specified in the job description.

Must be EMT Instructor Certified

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possess the appropriate academic and/or allied health credentials, as determined by the Bureau of EMS.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of education principles and theories, including instructional design, learning theories, and assessment strategies.
  • Hold valid and current certifications and/or licenses as mandated by their credentialing agency.
  • Have qualifications verified and approved by the Bureau of EMS before providing any EMS instruction.
  • Experience in the delivery of EMS education is preferred.s
