About Us:

GEO Prep Baker, Inc. is a tuition-free, public charter school that serves students in grades K-8. Our dedicated faculty and staff are committed to providing an outstanding education for students each day as they transition from elementary to middle school to high school and COLLEGE. Our curriculum and teaching methods are designed using Core Knowledge in K-8 and a blended learning model in elementary school through high school. We are a TAP school!

REPORTS TO/TERM:

Principal

This is a 10-month position.

KEY FUNCTIONS:

A Behavioral Dean performs the following duties:

  • Arrives before students arrive each day
  • Greets students in the morning as they arrive and monitors student dress codes
  • Works harmoniously with teachers, leadership and SPED Dept.
  • Assist with creating individual behavior plans for students as needed
  • Use discipline data to develop culture and climate goals and coordinate with leadership to create action plans
  • Provide professional development and parent workshops needed to promote and support positive student culture
  • Work with school administration to address and assist with student attendance issues
  • Support teachers with logical student consequences and reinforcements
  • Manage and maintain consistency of all consequence programs such as ISS, After School Detention and Saturday School
  • Responsible for staffing After School Detention and Saturday School - filling in when necessary
  • Log and record all entries for all referrals resulting in Out of School or In-School Suspensions
  • Circulate through entire facility to show presence in every classroom at least once a day
  • Coordinate and schedule parent meetings after students 5th referral
  • Communicate via email scheduled parent meetings with teachers and leadership staff
  • Determine necessary outcome once a student is referred to (ISS, OSS parent conference)
  • Support school wide incentives and rewards
  • Participate and attend school functions
  • Attend all required staff meetings
  • Assist with after school parent pick up until 4:00pm daily
  • Other duties requested by supervisor
  • Dress professionally and uphold all school policies

Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor's Degree
  • Proven desire to make a difference in children's lives
  • 3-5 years' proven success in an urban school environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
