Behavioral Interventionist - Preschool/Early Childhood Intervention
For more than 50 years, Washington County Mental Health Services (WCMHS) has served the Washington County community and the Orange County towns of Orange, Washington, and Williamstown. WCMHS provides education, support, and treatment of individuals and families living with mental health challenges, substance use issues, and developmental and intellectual disabilities. Providing accessible, high-quality services in the community, schools, and health care settings, we work toward positive outcomes for wellness with collaborative, inclusive, and compassionate care. Washington County Mental Health Services is “Where Hope and Support Come Together.”Position: WCMHS is seeking a Behavioral Interventionist – Preschool/Early Childhood Interventionist. As part of our School Based Services Teams, Behavioral Interventionists (BIs) facilitate access to education for children and youth with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges in their school and community settings. Working in partnership with mental health and educational providers, BIs implement intervention strategies and provide direct support with a strengths-based approach toward improving emotional regulation, developing social skills, and building positive connections. Preschool/Early Childhood BI positions have full-time, day shift schedules. Due to the nature of the work and the essential job duties, BIs are required to have regular and consistent attendance at work, as scheduled.Qualifications: Required qualifications for Behavioral Interventionists include:- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to engage and communicate positively with young children.
- Ability to maintain safety in various settings and to remain calm in challenging situations.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate well with parents, school staff, WCMHS staff, and other professionals.
- Valid driver’s license, excellent driving record, and access to a safe, reliable, insured vehicle, and willingness to transport clients in personal vehicle.
- Ability to lift and/or transport up to 50 pounds as well as execute restraint techniques (training provided).
- Ability to frequently change position and move about and around a school setting.
