Position SummaryThe Benefits & HR Coordinator supports day-to-day HR operations with a primary focus on employee benefits, onboarding/offboarding, and basic HR and payroll administrative tasks. This role serves as a first point of contact for employee questions, works closely with our benefits brokers and vendors, and assists with maintaining accurate HR and payroll records. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, responsive, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Benefits Administration

  • Serve as the first point of contact for general benefits questions (medical, dental, vision, 401k, leave programs, etc.).
  • Partner with benefits brokers to resolve employee inquiries, eligibility issues, or escalations.
  • Process benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations in HRIS/benefit platforms.
  • Assist with annual open enrollment, including communications, data audits, and vendor coordination.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant benefits records.

HR Coordination

  • Support employee onboarding, including preparing offer packets, collecting documentation, initiating background checks, and setting up new hires in HRIS
  • Coordinate employee offboarding tasks such as system terminations, final pay inputs, COBRA notices (working with vendor), and exit documentation.
  • Respond to routine employee questions regarding policies, PTO, pay cycles, and HR processes.
  • Maintain personnel files and ensure data accuracy across systems.

Payroll & Compliance Support

  • Assist payroll team with new hire setups, terminations, benefit deductions, and basic payroll changes.
  • Monitor and update payroll tax account information across state and local jurisdictions as needed.
  • Maintain accounts and respond to notices in unemployment portals and state tax websites.
  • Support the completion of employment verifications and compliance documentation.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in HR, benefits administration, or payroll support (preferred).
  • Familiarity with HRIS and benefits platforms; ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
  • Excellent communication and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
  • Experience with multi-state payroll tax or unemployment portals is a plus.
