We have an immediate opening for a full-time position in our accounting department at our Cheverly, Maryland office. The schedule is working in-person Monday through Friday, with a start time of between 7:30am-8:30am.

This job will fill roles in both our billing and job cost review functions, as well as providing backup administration support as needed. The candidate will assist the AR specialist with monthly billing of clients across three companies, ensuring that customer invoices are accurately entered and submitted. The candidate will also assist in the review of job costs, investigate job cost variances, and resolve cost issues before job packets are delivered to the sales team. Some physical lifting, standing, record packing and filing is required.
When needed, the candidate will also provide administrative support backup by working at the company reception desk and answering inbound phone calls when the company receptionist is away.
The ideal candidate will have good attention to detail, the ability to work independently, multi-task and prioritize work effectively to maintain a highly productive workflow. This position requires collaborating with other departments, warehouse and shipping staff, and clients by providing expert service and advice. An accounting background is not necessary to be successful in this position.
Requirements
- Experience working in an office environment.
- Experience working with computers, Outlook, and data entry into an ERP system.
- Proficiency with Excel (basic).
How you will contribute:
- Utilize billing software to complete client billing.
- Follow up on accounts, completing monthly costing and billing.
- Produce monthly billing reports, maintaining company contacts for billing, and generating job costing reports.
- Proficient in billing and accounting software, especially Excel.
- Accurate data entry.
- Provide administrative support when needed by answering phones and greeting visitors to the facility.
What you'll bring:
- High School Diploma required.
- Accounting software program experience preferred but not necessary.
- Experience as a billing specialist or administrative assistant. (1-2 years of related experience)
- Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel).
- Ability to demonstrate good judgment.
- Ability to communicate accurately and concisely.
- Exhibit and maintain a high level of confidentiality as it relates to accounting data.
- Math and analytical skills required.
- Possess superior organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a positive attitude.
The qualified applicant will be a self-starter, a great multi-tasker and an independent worker. In addition, the successful candidate will be organized, detailed-oriented, and must have strong computer experience and be empathic to customers' needs.
