About You

We're looking for someone who has:

  • A bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering; emphasis or concentration in structures is preferred; master's degree preferred
  • 1 to 4 years of experience in bridge design engineering, including work on complex structures, finite element analysis, seismic analysis, and design
  • Bridge inspection experience or certification preferred
  • Engineer-in-Training (E.I.) certification required
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and techniques with familiarity of AASHTO guidelines
  • Experience developing and modifying Mathcad programs
  • Proficiency with bridge engineering software such as LEAP Bridge; refined analysis skills with MIDAS, CSiBridge, or other finite element analysis software preferred
  • Expertise in MicroStation V8i, InRoads, OpenRoads Designer, and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel (preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently on multiple tasks
  • Strong written and verbal communication and collaboration abilities

About the Role

As a Bridge Engineer-in-Training, you will:

  • Assist in designing highway and pedestrian bridge projects, coordinating with engineers, designers, technicians, and CADD personnel
  • Participate in bridge inspections for routine and complex structures
  • Prepare and review reports, designs, preliminary and final plans, technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates; recommend additions, deletions, and substitutions when appropriate
  • Collect and analyze data relevant to bridge design and inspections
  • Perform structural engineering design calculations and investigative analyses
  • Develop finite element models for complex bridges and structures
  • Conduct bridge load rating analysis and compile related reports
  • Assist with quantity calculations and cost estimating for bridge projects
  • Communicate and interact with project team members, clients, review agencies, and other stakeholders; assist in resolving complex issues such as conflicting design requirements or coordination challenges
