Job Description:

The Business Operations Coordinator functions as a crucial liaison among faculty, staff, and students, streamlining financial and administrative processes and upholding LSU policies and best practices. Through the various responsibilities, the coordinator ensures operational efficiency and alignment with institutional objectives. The work performed drives operational efficiency and fosters a supportive environment crucial to the Law Center's success.

Job Responsibilities

Financial Support: Manages the Law Center's daily business operations and administrative services, including financial transactions, travel expenditures, procurement, and accounts payable/receivable. Additional responsibilities include ledger reconciliation, account balance monitoring, documentation maintenance, deposit initiation, correcting journal entries, and tracking expenditures for events and services. (35%)

Administrative Support: Processes spend authorizations and expense reports for guests, students, and employees as needed. Educates faculty and staff on LSU policies and procedures. Assists with inventory management and reporting. Ensures compliance with university and state guidelines. Maintains standard operating procedures for consistency and best practices. Processes requisitions for goods and services, including professional service contracts. (35%)

Human Resources Support: Acts as the primary Student Employment Partner for the Law Center. Coordinates the student on-boarding process, including managing the I-9 employment verification process, processing job changes, compensation increases, and terminations in Workday. Responsible for ensuring student payroll is processed timely by monitoring the submission and approvals process. Provide assistance in handling employee inquiries, issues, and concerns. Assist in preparing HR reports and data analysis for management. Ensure compliance with document retention policies and data privacy regulations. (20%)

Assists with special projects as requested by the Assistant Dean of Finance & Administration. Other duties as assigned. (10%)

Special Requirements

This position regularly engages in financial matters including handling credit cards, cash, grant funds, or other university funds, and must undergo a credit check per FASOP HR-041.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field with 2 years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree in a business field with 3-5 years of professional experience in a university or government setting.
