Job Description

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Purchase and monitor inventories utilizing buying systems technologies to ensure optimum inventory levels within assigned products and categories.
  • Analyze purchasing and sales data inventories, and vendor/supplier issues to place orders to meet customer service level requirements, minimize cost of goods sold, and shrink.
  • Maintain and monitor demand planning considerations and parameters by inputting and adjusting the buying system, including but not limited to, price changes, inventory turns, vendor lead times, projected turn and promotional demand, purchase orders, etc.
  • Proactively predict customer needs and requirements and modify the ordering systems historically based recommended order quantities to anticipate demand changes.
  • Communicates priority inbound and outbound deliveries to warehouse and transportation management. Expedites shipping and deliveries as needed.
  • Leads communications and acts as liaison between vendors, suppliers, and all other departments, including problem resolution.
  • Stays abreast of current and predicted market trends in consumer demand through studying current events and industry publications.
  • Communicates with our independent retailers to understand their needs, inform, and build relationships including conducting monthly store visits.
  • Collaborates and negotiates with current and prospective suppliers to ensure the right mix of goods, at the right price to serve our independent retailers and their customers. Full category management responsibilities include new item selection, product discontinuation, promotional planning, and more.
  • Collaborates and negotiates in good faith with current and prospective suppliers on pricing, terms, optimal buying brackets, lead times, quality, and delivery competitiveness.
  • Participates in and contributes to execution of bi-annual food shows for customers.
  • Ensures compliance with AGNE's purchasing procedures, procurement code, and user requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Associates degree plus 2- 4 years purchasing experience or equivalent combination of education and similar experience.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications, ability to adapt to new technology essential.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, prioritization and problem solving abilities.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and professional communication skills.
  • Prior wholesale and/or retail grocery experience is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIORNMENT

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • No or very limited physical effort required.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
