Purpose of Role

Responsible for acting as the face of our consumer education and public trust strategy to elevate the conversation around housing wealth, reverse mortgages, and retirement through research, storytelling, and media engagement. Utilizes deep subject-matter expertise for public education, content creation, and thought leadership to translate complex financial concepts into digestible, engaging education for the general public.

Expectations

  • Acts as a subject matter expert on reverse mortgage knowledge.
  • Stays up to date on reverse mortgage regulation, retirement income research, aging demographics, and home equity trends
  • Monitors industry trends and provide strategic insight into product positioning and market education needs
  • Distills research findings into accessible, engaging insights for seniors, caregivers, adult children, and the media.
  • Develops and maintains education resources: guides, blog posts, video explainers, etc.
  • Contributes thought leadership content: bylines, whitepapers, etc.
  • Partners with academic, nonprofit, or policy organizations to publish co-branded research or thought leadership.
  • Ensures work is vetted by cross-functional partners and identifies internal integration or leverage opportunities to extend value of the content.
  • Takes a recurring part of the brand's social media presence.
  • Represents the brand as a media spokesperson and guest expert on retirement, housing wealth, and longevity planning.
  • Speaks at industry conferences, retirement events, advocacy forums, and podcasts.
  • Upholds brand standards by championing FOA's integrated value proposition and the research that informed it.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications- Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Financial education, journalism, research, or public policy.

Qualifications- Experience/Skills/Competencies

  • Strong content portfolio (e.g. book, guide, blog series, whitepaper).
  • Existing audience or professional network in the mortgage or retirement planning space.
  • Deep expertise in personal finance, retirement planning, mortgage, and home equity lending.
  • Strong research acumen.
  • Media training or experience as a spokesperson, author, or podcaster.
  • Comfort on camera and confident public speaker.
  • Skilled at translating regulatory or technical material into consumer-friendly language.

Compensation

The base salary range for this position is ($123,600 - $150,000 ) inclusive of all geographical differences in the labor market. The base salary for the position will be determined based on factors such as the candidate's work location, skills, education, and experience. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider the internal equity of our current team members in determining any final offer. We offer a competitive benefits package including health, dental, vision, life insurance, paid time-off benefits, flexible spending account, 401(k) with employer match, and ESPP.
