Job Description
Position Requirements:
This position requires a minimum formal education of High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 3 years job-related experience. Desired (not required) criteria include: MS with minimum 10 years clinical experience, at least 2 of which is in supervisory role. Physical Therapist, New York State Physical Therapist, New York State Minimum of M.S. and 5 years previous experience in similar capacity.
Professional Requirements:
* Insure timely and adequate provision of all PM & R therapeutic services by daily tracking of current patient volume, providing for adequate staffing and proper assignment and scheduling of patient cases.
* Supervise the overall provision of Therapeutic Services in the PM & R Division to insure both in/out patient, patient family and physician satisfaction.
* Develops, coordinates and conducts Q.I./P.I. Activities, in conjunction with the PM & R Director, for the PM & R Therapeutic Services; presents a written/verbal report at quarterly management subcommittee meetings.
* Responsible for overseeing the completion and submission of all Therapeutic Services Medical Record documentation pertaining to evaluations, re-evaluations, treatments, and other procedures.
* Conducts objective performance appraisals and age/skills competency on each professional/paraprofessional and clerical PM & R staff member at proper intervals to insure competency and encourage staff development.
* Responsible for weekly payroll on the ADP Enterprise System for all PM & R staff members.
* Communicates effectively with patients, their families, inter and intra departmental staff and communicates unexpected findings to MD/RN/PM & R Director. Effectively Communicates with the PM & R Director and Administrative liaison regarding important factors
* Demonstrates ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful conditions, has initiative and can be counted on for day-to-day activities and performs other duties as required or requested by the PM & R Director.
* Treats patients and staff with respect, compassion and understanding and aids in the care and safety of patients at all times.

* Supervises, directs and disciplines all professional, paraprofessional and clerical staff appropriately.
* Attends in-house/outside courses, conferences, meetings as required; organizes PM & R Community Health Fair booths; provides in-services; follows up on missed Department manager's meetings.
* Practices physical therapy consistent with his/her job description, APTA code of ethics and standards of practice.
* Conducts patient initial evaluations, re-evaluations, and treatments in a proficient, professional, thorough, and timely manner. Develops an effective P.O.C. and discharge plan based on these finding while establishing measurable/functional short and lo
* Responsible for preparing functional, objective, complete and timely documentation of any patient evaluated and/or treated; completing necessary charge slips and properly documenting treatment on in and out patient tracking forms.
