Job Description:
The Louisiana State University School of Theatre invites applications for a full-time Visiting Instructor of Entertainment Lighting and Media Production, with an appointment to begin August 2025.
Job Responsibilities:
- Teaching coursework in lighting design and technology, Introduction to Theatrical Design, and other areas as needed.
- Designing lighting and multi-media projections or mentoring student designers for the four LSU Theatre and Swine Palace productions per academic year
- Serving as master electrician for all LSU Theatre and Swine Palace productions
- Supervising and mentoring student designers and technicians
- All LSU Theatre faculty serve on administrative committees and participate in student recruitment initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education Level: MFA
- Degree Substitute: an MFA with an emphasis in lighting design or equivalent professional experience
- Specific Experience: Experience in lighting and projections design; and excellent teaching, mentoring, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Specific Experience: • Teaching experience at the undergraduate level; The ability to teach at the graduate level, and the skills to maintain an inventory of lighting and projections equipment and technologies; Ideal candidates will have a mastery of CAD and other multi-media digital design tools and techniques.
