Location: This is a hybrid role requiring 1 day a week in the office (Mountain View or San Francisco).

Databricks is looking for an Income Tax Manager to join our team! You will manage the day-to-day income tax reporting of the tax department - ensuring that financial positions, returns, payments, and refunds are completed in a timely and accurate manner. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter who is highly organized, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and has a strong background in income tax. You will report to the Senior Tax Manager - Global Reporting and will also work with a number of cross-functional teams.

The impact you will have:

  • Prepare quarterly and year-end global income tax provision in accordance with ASC 740, including supporting calculations such as ASC 740-10 reserve calculations
  • Prepare tax deduction stock-based compensation calculations for U.S. and foreign subsidiaries
  • Prepare tax purchase accounting workpapers for acquisitions under ASC 805-740
  • Prepare quarterly and year-end tax provision memos as well as other technical memos
  • Prepare financial statement disclosures related to taxes
  • Manage the global income tax compliance process, including reviewing U.S. federal, state, and foreign tax returns prepared by external advisors
  • Prepare quarterly U.S. federal and state income tax estimate workpapers
  • Manage and track all U.S. federal, state, and foreign estimated income tax payments
  • Prepare certain non-income calculations and returns, such as Seattle payroll expense tax, Seattle B&O tax, and NYC commercial rent tax
  • Prepare Pillar Two calculations and monitor Pillar Two tax law changes
  • Monitor changes in U.S. accounting standards and U.S. and foreign tax laws to ensure the income tax impact is properly considered
  • Prepare cash tax forecasts for the FP&A team
  • Perform and document internal controls for SOX
  • Partner with Accounting, Treasury, Legal, and FP&A on cross-functional projects

What we look for:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or a related field
  • Experience working in a mid-size or large accounting firm
  • Having in-house tax department experience is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years in-depth experience with corporate income tax compliance and ASC 740 accounting, including hands-on experience calculating quarterly and annual tax provisions for large multinational public companies
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders (consultants, auditors, etc.)
  • Demonstrated organizational excellence and history of timely completion of duties
  • High competency in Excel and Google Sheets
  • Experience or involvement with tax automation projects is a plus
