Job Description:
Copia is seeking an experienced Senior Director, Data Center Engineering, Procurement and Construction with a strong background in mission critical data center design, engineering and project management to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in data center design/engineering, and construction. This role requires a versatile individual who can effectively manage large-scale infrastructure projects, coordinate teams, and ensure that all projects meet deadlines and strategic goals.

The Senior Director, Data Center Engineering, Procurement and Construction will report directly to the COO and will work closely with Copia’s development, asset management, energy markets, legal, and finance teams in an individual contributor role.

Key Responsibilities:
•Develop and oversee the planning, initiation, execution, monitoring, and closure of data center projects throughout the Unites States, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with our established quality standards. 
•Coordinate with SMEs and real estate teams to conduct feasibility studies, determine site selection criteria and review due diligence for new data center builds or expansions
•Manage external civil design consultants through the data center design and construction process. 
•Create, review, and release design RFPs for various engineering support, procurement needs
•Review designs for site layout, grading, power substations, storm water, utilities, and pavement, along with coordination on external MEP design functions.
•Develop detailed project plans, outlining milestones, timelines, resources, and budget requirements for data center digital initiatives.
•Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders (e.g., development, design, construction, operations, and engineering teams).
•Identify and mitigate project risks early by developing risk management strategies and maintaining effective contingency plans.
•Lead cross-functional project teams, including engineers, architects, and IT specialists, ensuring clear communication and alignment with project goals.
•Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction review, and interfacing with authorities having jurisdiction.
•Manage the collaboration between internal teams and external vendors, ensuring that digital infrastructure and technology components align with overall data center goals.
•Serve as support on all client engagements, organizing customer meetings/logistics, presentations, and contract negotiations.
•Implement best practices in energy optimization to reduce operating costs, minimize emissions, and improve the overall efficiency of the data center.

Minimum Qualifications:
•10+ years of experience in project management, engineering and construction management, and infrastructure development.
•Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
•Construction industry experience, preferred
•Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced proficiency in PowerPoint & Excel 
•Knowledge of data center market, including client needs, industry trends, and the competitive landscape.
•Ability to work in one of the four main Copia offices a minimum of 3 days per week. 
•Ability to travel up to 30%
•Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
