Accounting Manager

Position Overview:

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a wide range of accounting duties, ensuring accurate and timely financial information. This position receives and manages a wide-range of details inbound from project field personnel. Serves as central control ensuring accurate coding and posting of expenses. This position reports to the controller.

Essential Duties:

  • Accounts payable function

  • Setting up vendor accounts

  • Entering vendor invoices

  • Vendor payment process

  • Performs weekly payroll

  • Weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual federal and state reporting

  • Union reporting

  • Garnishments

  • Accounts receivable function

  • Weekly and monthly billing of all work orders and jobs

  • Sales tax compliance

  • Assist with ERP transition (January 2026)

  • Banking and cash management

  • Job costing

  • Employee purchasing card management

  • Various internal reporting as requested by management

  • Assist controller with monthly close process

  • Audit support for insurance, unions, benefits, etc

  • Assist controller with annual review from CPA firm

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with an Integrated ERP system.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across different levels and departments.
  • Sincere dedication to the best interests of the Company, its customers, and employees.
  • Concern for quality, accuracy, and safety and ability to foster those traits among employees.
  • Willingness and ability to champion and enforce accounting procedures and company policies.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well with others, including subordinates, peers, executive management and outside vendors, representatives, and visitors.
  • Ability to exhibit composure, patience, and confidence when facing difficult situations.
  • Self-starter with a proven track record of managing multiple priorities.
  • Ability to effectively manage projects, including planning, prioritize and execution to completion.
  • High integrity and trustworthy with confidential information.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience
  • Construction experience is desirable

Required Skills:

  • Sound knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
  • Knowledge of accounting best practices and applicable federal, state and local laws and tax codes.
  • Systematic approach to problem solving for all types of issues.
  • Strong skills in fostering working relationships.
  • Detail oriented; organized; sets priorities; meets deadlines.
  • Superior data management and data analysis skills.
  • Strong understanding of accounting, finance, and management principles.
  • Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Effective, clear, and persuasive oral and written communication skills with individuals and groups
  • Proficient with computers, MS Office, and working knowledge of accounting software, ERP system.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time, up to eight hours per day, though possibly more.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to successfully use a computer.
  • Sometimes required to stand and/or walk, and make occasional trips from the office area to other site buildings or down stairs to lower training meeting rooms.
