Job Description
Human Resources Generalist, West Division
Position Summary
The Human Resources Generalist position is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with business partners and HR leaders to support the business with simple to complex tasks.
This position is responsible for supporting the administration, coordination, and evaluation of the human resource functions. This includes attracting, hiring, developing, and retaining employees in the respective areas of responsibility. Carrying out responsibilities and support in the following functional areas: hourly recruitment, employment law compliance, onboarding, offboarding, HRIS, employee and labor relations, training, and affirmative action.
Essential Functions
- Work with all levels of management to develop work environments, affect culture change, and produce working conditions that maximize effective use of human potential and result in maximum productivity, profitability, and job satisfaction
- Provide guidance resources for employees and management on simple to moderately complex employee relations issues. Perform investigations and recommend a course of action with guidance from HR leadership
- Administer and monitor hourly wage planning and make recommendations within plans
- Coordinate with HR leadership on the formulation and/or modification of Human Resource policies, and conduct roll-out and enforcement of such policies with guidance from HR leadership
- Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and Local programs, as well as the company & business unit programs
- Provide guidance resources to managers in the development, implementation and use of performance standards and evaluation/appraisal systems.
- Provide administrative services as necessary to ensure all above duties and functions are performed successfully
- Delivers training related to Human Resources programs and employee and/or labor relations issues.
- Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned
Functional Skills
- Collaboration & clear, concise communication
- Understanding and implementation of HR Best Practices
- Understanding of and comfortable educating and enforcing basic HR Policies and Procedures
- Knowledge of Employment Laws
- Understanding the fundamentals of Compensation Design
- Understanding the fundamentals of Workers' Compensation
- Moderate level skills with Microsoft Office Programs, especially Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Familiarity with using HRIS Systems
Supervisory Responsibility
None
Education and Experience
- Required- Bachelor's degree and three years of human resource experience, OR the equivalent of seven years of related experience in HR
- Preferred- Bilingual Spanish
- Preferred- PHR certification
- Preferred- Workday used for HRIS
Travel
Travel will be 30% within the assigned area of the Division. Out-of-area and overnight travel will be expected.
Work Environment
This job operates 30% of the time in field locations and 70% of the time will be in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time exempt position. This position may require long hours and weekend work.
