Job Overview
SmartStyle in Aiken, SC is hiring a Salon Manager who is also a licensed cosmetologist. This role is perfect for someone who wants to work behind the chair while leading a team, growing sales, and ensuring smooth day-to-day salon operations. You'll be both a service provider and a business leader, responsible for delivering excellent results and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Provide Hair Services

Perform a full range of professional salon services: cutting, coloring, styling, chemical treatments, waxing, etc.

Consult with clients to recommend services and products that meet their needs

Maintain high-quality work that encourages client retention and referrals
Leadership & Staff Development

Recruit, hire, train, and onboard new stylists

Set performance goals and coach team members to meet or exceed targets
-
Provide ongoing feedback and mentoring to promote a positive, supportive team culture

Conduct regular staff meetings and one-on-one check-ins
Sales & Business Growth

Actively drive service and retail product sales by setting daily and monthly goals

Encourage upselling of treatments and retail products during services

Monitor individual and team performance metrics (e.g., average ticket, retail %, rebooking rate)

Implement promotional events, local marketing strategies, and seasonal specials
Salon Operations

Create and manage stylist schedules to ensure adequate coverage

Manage inventory levels for products, tools, and backbar supplies
-
Handle daily cashouts, payroll submissions, and end-of-day reporting
-
Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment in line with health and safety standards

Ensure compliance with SC cosmetology laws and SmartStyle brand standards
Customer Experience

Resolve client concerns professionally and promptly

Build strong client relationships through consistent service and follow-up

Monitor appointment flow to minimize wait times and ensure smooth operations

Uphold excellent front-desk support and walk-in service management
Qualifications
-
Current South Carolina Cosmetology License (required)

2+ years of experience as a stylist; 1+ year in a salon leadership or shift lead role preferred

Strong communication, leadership, and customer service skills

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends

Goal-oriented with a passion for helping teams and individuals grow
